GUINTUBSAN,
a seacoast about two kilometers almost north of Odiongan town and just a
few hundred meters south of the Odiongan Dock, is the place where Miguel
Cirilo, a prominent man of the town during his time, was ransomed by the
Odiongan people from the Moros during the days of Moro piracy. The
brave, lame, Moro chieftain, Dejapar and his men were met here by
Captain Zaqueo, the famous Looc chieftain and his warriors. Here, the
four carabaos and a hundred cavans of rice were delivered to the Moros
as ransom for the freedom of Miguel Cirilo. The seacoast is now called 'Guintubsan'
meaning a place where someone was ransomed. - Mateo Meñez on
