Butch Dalisay appointed UP Vice President

Prof. Jose "Butch" Dalisay, Jr. was recently appointed as Vice President for Public Affairs, does P.R.O work. He was previously department chair of of the English dept. He has been published. Among his titles are OLD TIMER AND OTHER STORIES; SARCOPHAGUS AND OTHER STORES, KILLING TIME IN A WARM PLACE; MADILIM ANG GABI SA LAOT;PENMANSHIP AND OTHER STORIES, PAGSABOG NG LIWANAG/ANINAG, ANINO, THE ISLAND (with Jaime Zobel and Francisco Doplon). He writes a column for Philippine Star. He lives in Quezon City. He holds a PhD in English and teaches English and creative writing at the state university. A TOYM awardee for 1993, he was born in Alcantara, Romblon. Last year, he was a panelist in the Cornelio Faigao Writer's Workshop in Romblon, Romblon. Hooray for another kababayan who excelled in the field of letters. Faigao, NVM Gonzales, and Butch.

UP Cum Laude

Lia F. Bongao, oldest daughter of Nanding and Luz Bongao, graduated from UP Diliman this year, cum laude.The Bongaos are ardent/strong supporters of RDL CLEAR. Nanding worked for the National Power corporation. A Fabella high valedictorian, he earned his chemical engineering and masters in engineering graduate at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. It seems Lia followed her Dad's footsteps. There are two other children, Leah Ramon and Louise. They live in San Pedro Tunasan, Laguna.
