They say calamities and tragedies bring out the best in us. Which
is probably what happened when intermittent typhoons prevented the
usual medical volunteers from Manila from participating in the Banton
medical mission, the last of the RDL-CLEAR's tri-venue for this activity.
But instead of
suspending the activity, it became an opportunity for RDL-CLEAR to
work with the local government resources. The 1.5 days of free medical
treatment and consultation saw medical volunteers, headed by the Provincial
Health Officer Giovanni C. Fondevilla and his team: Marita F. Marquez,
M.D., Nino Rey B. Fondevilla, M.D., Myra B. Ruado, D.M.D., Cecille
F. Moaje, RN, Elsa A. Madrona, Helen M. Gutierrez and Jose Majaque,
Jr. lending their valuable time to assist the local residents.
More volunteers
from the barangay health unit came to augment the team. Aida F. Fetizanan,
M.D., Lydia F. Fiecas, DMD, Felome Fadri, RN, Tessie Fajut, midwife,
Herminia Ferrer, midwife, Luningning Festin, midwife, Lomelyn Fiecas,
midwife, Benilda Famorcan, midwife, Ophelia Fabonan, DMD, Majella
Falquerabao, RN also assisted to make the well-attended medical mission
a success.
About 551 patients
received consultation, treatment and medicines, 333 adults, 134 pedia
category and 84 dental patients.
