President Gloria M. Arroyo visits Romblon

President Gloria Arroyo was recently in Romblon to meet with local officials as well as to witness development projects going on and to provide government assistance. Arriving in Romblon, Romblon last August 14, 2003, she inaugurated the new port/terminal which had been widened. She also handed a check of P6 million to finance a local water supply project that will benefit residents of all 17 municipalities of the province.

Later, at the Romblon Provincial Capitol, she headed a meeting of the regional development council of the MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) to discuss with local officials the problems and needs of the sub-region.

After staying overnight in the capital town, she visited Sibuyan. After Romblon, President Arroyo flew to Mogpoc, Marinduque. She also visited Mindoro Oriental next. Before coming to Romblon, she has gone to Iloilo City and Maguindanao province.

The presidential party who came with the president to Romblon included Secretary Lontok of the Official Development Assistance, Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza and Agriculture Secretary Chito Lorenzo.
