There was a high percentage of people who cast their vote (approximately 70% of the total voting population. The barangay is the smallest political unit in the Philippines. It is usually composed of a small village, subdivision, or section of the town and cities.

The barangay chairmen are supposed to be the most apolitical of all officials whose responsibilities are more directed to maintaining local peace and order within their areas. They also perform basic and simple community services like health, mediation in small village problems (e.g. domestic or neighborhood problems and petty crimes), environment and social development. Lately however, there were instances that saw politicking and party affiliation that mimic officials in higher local government. Even the elections last July 15 scores of election-related crimes and fatalities in other parts of the country were reported. This situation is seen by many as a sad development as violence does not seem necessary for elections in the country's lowest political section and for the youths, as in the case of Sangguniang Kabataan. There were no instances of election-related violence reported for Romblon however.

Meanwhile the Sangguniang Kabataan gathered young voters aged 15-17 years old to vote for their own leaders or SK chairman. Aside from the winner from Barangay Poblacion (town center of Corcuera), those who emerged as the new chairmen of SK in the different barangays included Reynel Fadegarao (Barangay San Agustin), Debbie Fojas (Tacasan), Mark Falqueza (Ambulong) and Herbert Fruelda (Ilijan). For a the rest of the winners, please go to the Simara Online news.

From Odiongan, Romblon, partial results of the barangay elections revealed the following winners: Boy Ornum (Barangay Liwanag); Lingkit Garcia (Tabing Dagat); Richard Servanez (Liwayway); and Pen Tan (Ligaya)
