COP FALOGME ASSUMES
OFFICE
SPO3 Danilo Advincula
Falogme assumed office as the new Chief of Police of Banton, Romblon
last October 16 vice SPO3 Jose dela Vega Fabrique, who had been hospitalized
in Metro Manila.
A native of Calatrava,
Romblon, COP Falogme was born to parents Emilio Falogme and Jemina Advincula
on 1 October 1957.
After graduation
from the Calatrava Barangay High School, he pursued his college studies
at the Romblon Agricultural College, Odionoan, Romblon, where he received
a degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1980.
On 1 October 1986,
he took the Police Officer III exam given by the National Police Commission
and passed it with flying colors. Thereafter, he attended the police
Basic Training Course in Camp Nakar Regional Training Center, Region
IV, Lucena City.
Upon completion
of the training, he was assigned with the Regional Action Force Battalion
at the Regional Command, Region IV, Lucena City.
On 2 January 1991,
he was transferred to the Police Station of his hometown until his reassignment
to Banton, Romblon as chief of police.
COP Falogme is
happily married to Nerrie Famorcan and is blessed with three loving
children, two boys and one girl.

LOCAL SB PASSES IODIZED SALT ORDINANCE
The local Sangguniang
Bayan of Banton, Romblon has approved a Salt Ordinance otherwise known
as an ordinance promoting the use of iodized salt in the said municipality.
The ordinance is
aimed to 1) contribute to the elimination of micronutrient malnutrition
in the municipality particularly iodine deficiency; 2) require the Rural
Sanitation Inspector to monitor the quality of iodized salt sold in
the market; and 3) ensure a continuous supply of iodized salt in the
municipality.
The ordinance enjoins
the Municipal Health Office to ensure the effective implementation of
the provisions of the same.
Violations of the
provisions of the ordinance shall be fined P250.00 for first offense,
P350.00 for second offense, and P450.00 for third offense.
The ordinance was
approved by the Municipal Mayor last October 21, 2002.

ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING
HELD IN BANTON
A Training on Rural
Entrepreneurial Development (TREND) was held in Banton, Romblon last
November 26-27, 2002 at the 3rd Floor of the Municipal Building.
The aim of the
training is to orient participants with entrepreneurial skills that
will help them in the management and development of Rappia Production
in the island and future undertakings relevant to entrepreneurship.
Like the first
training held on September 2-5, 2002, some of the participants included
were Mrs. Mercy Flores, Mrs. Melanie Fadriquela, Mrs. Liberty Fegalan,
Mrs. Otelia Ferriol, Mrs. Ilyn Fabonan, and Mrs. Alili Ferrancol.
The other participants
were Mrs. Ester Fabito, Mrs. Clanerose Fadriquela, Mrs. Elly Fababeir,
Mrs. Analyn Falcatan, and Mrs. Lovielyn Federico.
The facilitators
/trainors were Mr. Roberto M. Muros, TIDS-CARP, DTI-Romblon; Mrs. Rochelle
Bantang - TESS-TESDA-Romblon; and Mr. Paulino F. Mapalar, OIC-TESDA,
Romblon.
The training was
sponsored by the Banton Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BMPC) in collaboration
with TESDA, DTI, and the Municipal Government of Banton.
During the closing
program of the training, each of the trainees was awarded with a Certificate
of Completion.

COMELEC EMPLOYEE
COMMENDED
An employee of
the Office of the Election Officer of the Commission on Elections in
Banton, Romblon was commended by the Regional Office IV of the said
commission after the 15 July 2002 barangay and SK elections.
Mrs. Brenda Lee F. Fabula, election assistant of the said municipality
received her Certificate of Commendation from Mr. Amancio F. Sese, Jr.,
CIC-Provincial Election Supervisor for Romblon, for her exemplary performance
and service in connection with the 15 July 2002 barangay and SK elections
for the cause of free, orderly, honest, and credible elections.
Mrs. Fabula was
assigned as an OIC Election Officer of Banton, Romblon last July's political
exercises vice Mr. Romulo A. Faz, who was reassigned to Concepcion,
Sibali, Romblon.
MIDWIVES ATTEND
SEMINAR
Two midwives from
the RHU of Banton, Romblon attended a seminar of "Stress Management"
at Holliwood Hotel in Odiongan, Romblon recently.
Mrs. Tessie Fajut
and Mrs. Lomelyn Fiecas of Barangays Poblacion and Banice Health Stations
left for the seminar via Corcuera and Calatrava, Romblon early in the
morning of the first day of the seminar.
Conducted by the
Provincial Health Office, Mrs. Delma F. Faigao, provincial supervising
health nurse for Romblon, was the lone discussant in the seminar.
In an interview
with Mrs. Fajut, she said that "stress" is an automatic physical
reaction to a danger or demand. The tension maybe physical or psychological,
and the resulting state of balance leads to illness.
She further said
that stress maybe defined as a state where one's coping is not enough
to maintain a balance, causing low productivity, high absenteeism, bad
judgment, misallocation of resources and poor morale.
"To manage
the effects of stress better", Mrs. Fajut finally said, "it
is the minor irritants of hassles that upset a person that should be
recognized. One should also learn to accept what one cannot change,
and work on things that you have control of. Finally, learning the correct
breathing techniques" will help manage stress.
On the second day
of the seminar, Mrs. Faigao announced the names of the ten outstanding
midwives in the province of Romblon which included in their respective
orders, to wit: Mrs. Elma Fallurin (Calatrava), Mrs. Lomielyn Fiecas
and Mrs. Tessie Fajut (Banton), Mrs. Norma Fojas (Corcuera), Mrs. Leonor
Fabriquel (Odiongan), Mrs. Seniafel Grimares (Looc), Mrs. Irene Mortel
(Romblon), Mrs. Florencia Ramilo (Magdiwang), Mrs. Madelin Ventura (San
Jose) and Mrs. Avemie Fabria (Concepcion).
Aside from the
cash award of P3,000.00 each, the midwives were awarded certificate
of recognition by Mrs. Faigao.
