Welcome
to the maiden issue of Sanrokan News/Mag.
These words echo
in my nights:
" We said:
there is a digital divide that exists in these islands (Romblon
province). We say: Let us listen to the music of the mouse and embrace
the
magic of cyberspace. Let us engage."
Yes, we dream
on. We dreamed during the Sanrokan 2002 international
convention in Romblon island. The Sanrokan News/Mag sprang from a
dream - a vison of bridging the gap - that exists between the haves
and the have nots in internet opportunities.
This News/Mag
is about Romblon and its people, and the Philippines. It
attempts to harness the spirit of sanrokan, a tribal virtue that any
Romblomanon could be proud of.. This on line publication as it unfolds
will
tell us a story of islands: its joy and sometimes, despair.
This maiden issue
is a modest attempt to bring Romblonanons all over the
world to read current evetns, appreciate pristine beaches, rivers,
mountains, coves, and hills canopied with bamboo and coconut trees.
We too, intend to let you hear the laughter of children under morinng
sun.
We will also publish
literary articles - prose as well as poetry written in
the three major languages in Romblon province: Romblomanon, Asi and
Onhan. Please make no mistake, this is not an online publication run
by islanders from Romblon, Sibuyan, Tablas and the three islands (Banton,
Sibale, Simara) This News/Mag is run by Romblomanons and non-Romlomanons
as well.
We invite you
to hear us, bear with us, and gather in a table of godlove. Blessed
with the spirit of Sanrokan.
Hala bira!
