Mayor Bebs Fanlo is right. Simara, a wind-swept of an island boasts of "white sand" and "blue green waters". But that is not all there is to see. There is the Lis-ong Cave, the Suba Bay Lagoon, the Guiniwagan Cave, Cotta Tower and the Grotto. But mainly it is the charm of the island hemmed in by the sea from all sides that Simara or its town of Corcuera that stands tall under the canopy of blue sky, tickled by the unpredictable habagat and amihan winds. |

Suba Lagoon is a 28-hectare body of water that lies ensconced between
San Roque and Mabini. Its major produce are shrimps and bangus. |
The
lighthouse in the far distant guides seafarers and fishermen to this island
of 23.40 sq m. and a population of 10,168 (1999 figures). |

The Municipal Hall of Corcuera. It was named after Hurtado de Corcuera, a one-time Governor General of the Philippines. Simara meanwhile was derived from the word "sima" meaning hook, which is how the island looks like. |
