Junior
By Bob Gabuna

This poem was composed by the author for a brother who recently lost his life, Vitaliano Glori Gabuna Jr., 55, last May, 2003 due to stroke in Ontario, Canada. Accompanying the corpse on the way to the Philippines, as it was the deceased wish to be buried along with the remains of his parents in the family lot, Bob, composed the following poem in memoriam of his elder brother. The piece was read during the necrological service conducted at Looc Baptist Church in their home province, Romblon.

JUNIOR*

Remember me when I am gone away
Gone far away into the silent land
Turning the corner, have to go ---- you stay
See you no more, nor hold you by the hand

Through memories remember me day by day
Tell me of the future that you and I planned
While it is not late to counsel or to pray
By remembering me, surely you'll understand

Somehow should you forget me for a while?
Wipe off the welling tears and do not grieve
Remember the moments that keep you smile
Corruption I miss not; darkness I leave

Vestiges of thoughts as siblings we once all had
'Tis better to remember laughing than be sad
I have seen the world; my task is done…no more chores
Bring my body home ---- to my kin's in Romblon shores.
