MV Princess Camille sank at Romblon Port
By Eddie G. Fetalvero; Jose Aravilla, Philippine Star March 24, 2003)

Like a fallen big whale, MV Camille lies upside down, appearing to beseech help from the onlookers.

MV Princess Camille an inter-island passenger vessel routing Odiongan-Romblon-Sibuyan-Batangas sank at Romblon, Romblon Port on the afternoon of March 22 causing the death of the ship's chief engineer, a report reaching the Coast Guard said.

The report said the crew noticed the vessel taking in water on its star board side at about 3 p.m. while vehicles were being unloaded at the capitol's port. Efforts to pump out the water proved futile, and the ship sank after 45 minutes.

Divers later recovered the dead body of engineer Teodorico Lontoc who was trapped inside the engine room while a crew member named Norman Siason was safely rescued. All 89 passengers and 24 crewmen of the vessel were safe.
