Romblon Cultural Heritage Gallery and Study Center proposed

A project proposal for a Romblon Cultural Heritage Gallery and Study Center has been submitted by the proponent Romblon State College, Odiongan to RDL-CLEAR for funding assistance. Deemed as the first of a kind in the province of Romblon, the Cultural Center aims to "cover the documentation, collection, conservation, preservation, protection and exhibition of sites and properties with cultural heritage significance. In the initial phase of the project, the endeavor will focus on the cultural properties and cultural treasures."

The project will also serve as a study and research center for those who are interested in enriching their knowledge in the history and culture of Romblon.

Initially, the Center will be housed at the Institute of Business and Accountancy Building. It will utilize the room formerly occupied by the Romblon State College Multi-Purpose Cooperative that will serve as a gallery. It is the proponent's foresight that a new and separate building will be constructed to house the gallery within three (3) years.

The initial or start-up cost is placed at P200,000 with P150,000 to be provided by the funding agency. It will cover the most basic expenses like furniture, equipment and start-up for acquisition of artifacts.

The operation of the gallery shall be under the direct stewardship of the Business Affairs Office in coordination with the Institute of Arts and Sciences. Under the management of Dr. Idella G. Formilleza, SUC President, the group will include Prof. Edgardo F. Fadallan - Vice President for Business Affairs, Tomas T. Faminial, CPA - Financial Analyst, Feve dela Vega - Fund Manager, Dr. Linda A. Talamisan, Prof. Nelson F. Fedelin - Coordinator.

One of the missions of the RDL-CLEAR is to promote cultural awareness in the province and supporting projects like this is seen as a step in the right direction.
