Too Many Wishes

By Andrew Rejano

In the midst of all things
what is it I must sing?
A song of sorrow?
to mourn for tomorrow?
Or a song of joy?
2 make me smile 4 a fake decoy?

Its hard 2 be me
because my life gets tough depressingly
It`s hard to be you,
because 2 fake means 2 have a heart untrue
It`s weird 2 see me smile in happiness
when sometimes each smile feels like bitter sweet bliss

This rose I give 2 you is what I'm holding
but its dead of the life its lacking.
Everything I touch will whither and die,
each "petal" falls whenever I cry
I wish 4 too many things in life...
only being yourself limits our strife...

Andrew Rejano (15) attends Grade10 at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in Canada where he is a consistent honour roll. He likes computers, TV, meteorology "because he thinks weather is amazing, especially tornadoes and extreme weather events and stuff", or astronomy because "he likes to find new things undiscovered in space always wanted to see a moon and the earth from space, but he wouldn't go that for as an astronaut for he is not into that type of thing." A year ago, he discovered his talent with poetry and creative writing. He found it a "way to express my mind, thoughts and emotions on what may currently be happening in his life or just when he felt like writing." He also acknowledges this talent as a rare gift from God.

Andrew lives in Ajax, Ontario with his dad Cris and mom Beth and older brothers Tom and Clint.
