New Book on the Battle of Sibuyan Sea launched

A new book on the historic battle at Sibuyan Sea (The Greatest Naval Battle in World History and Other Wartime Events) was recently launched. Authored by US-based Nestor F. Famatigan, the book is an account of the Battle of Sibuyan Sea within Banton's vicinity as experienced by the author and other Bantoanon and Romblomanon folks. It covers other war stories like the saga of the battleship, Musashi; the battle for Leyte Gulf and its significance, Kamikaze and the fate of the Japanese soldiers who landed in Banton. It is a story of guerilla activities - the conflicts, struggles and victories. It is a World War II story intertwined in the life tapestry of the people of Romblon.

The launching was held last September 14, 2003 at the Biniray 2003 celebration in honor of Banton's patron saint, San Nicolas de Tolentino in Tanza, Cavite.

The book is priced at P120. For more information, please contact Ms. Chi Famatigan at cfamatigan@adb.org.
