Romblon's new bishop installed

The Diocese of Romblon recently welcomed their new bishop, the Most Reverend Jose Corazon T. Talaoc. Bp. Talaoc was installed as the fourth bishop of the Diocese in solemn rites held at the St. Joseph Cathedral last September 3, 2003 in Romblon's capital town. The installation rites was officiated by Papal Nuncio Msgr. Antonio Franco, and graced by the presence of the clergy and laity of the diocese.

Prior to his election to the bishopric, then Msgr. Talaoc was Director, Diocesan Commission on Biblical Apostolate, Diocese of Kalibo. At the same time, he was Co-Pastor and Helper at the New Washington Parish.

Bp. Talaoc succeeds Bp. Arturo Bastes who transferred to the Diocese of Sorsogon late last year.

The Diocese of Romblon was erected in April 1975 with Bp. Nicolas Mondejar as first bishop. He was then followed by Bp. Vicente Salgado. Both are now retired priests.
